In retrospect, it was like alternating between seeing two films simultaneously. The Julia/Paul scenes evoked laughter and chuckles from our Slow Food group; the Julie/Eric scenes not so much. Meryl Streep & Stanley Tucci came off as delightful and loveable as the real life Mr & Mrs Child most certainly were. It was almost irritating when the scene changed & I had to temporarily endure the other characters. [I did like their beautiful cat with huge eyes though. :-)] I viewed it more as a one-woman show, about her great love affair with Paul, food, and life.

Wow. I thought I was the only one who hated that book. Or at least the only one to say so. It's nice to know I am not alone.
And, if you love food and Julia Child, which I do, then you HAVE to see the movie, right? It's like that Seinfeld episode where everyone keeps telling Elaine she has to see The English Patient. (That only makes sense if you are a Seinfeld fan, and I hope you are. If you are not, I might like you a teeny bit less.) I am not going to see it. And I'm getting grief.

Loved it, so glad you are sharing your stories. This has been the best part of the movie, everyone sharing the Julia story.
